Environmental Food for Thought

innovation, environment, preservation

Pine Straw is the only all natural form of mulch or ground cover.  Pine needles fall naturally each year and can be gathered while fresh to enhance your landscape.  Wood mulch on the other hand is produced from trees that are cut down and processed with heavy equipment.

A large majority of the wood that is cut down for mulch production is wood waste resulting from developmental land clearing.  From an environmental standpoint those activities are a net loss since those trees are not re-planted.

One of Swift Straw’s big initiatives is the planting and preservation of timberland.  Just in the last year we have planted around 1 million pine trees which ensures that land will remain undeveloped and in a natural state.  Joining the pine straw revolution isn’t just about enjoying our innovative new products, you are also supporting environmentally friendly processes, the planting of new trees and the long term preservation of land and timber.

I hope you enjoy this environmental food for thought as you make landscape decisions in the future.
