Last night I had the privilege of listening to Hunter Hill speak at Purpose on Tap. He has a unique set of leadership experience ranging from sports, business, politics and the military...having served three tours over seas. One foundational piece of scripture for him that has shaped his life is:
Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.”
The takeaway from this verse is that we are not fully equipped to take on life’s challenges without a relationship with our Heavenly Father. We will never have the wisdom, courage, strength, compassion, discipline or will power to face the world and be successful alone. The sooner that clicks, and we learn to trust in the Lord and not in ourselves, the sooner we will be ready for life and leadership.
