Creating High-Performance Teams

leadership, business, team building, teamwork

Andy Stanley came up with 4 steps to creating high-performance teams. They are...

1) Select performance oriented people and position them for maximum impact.

Select doers, not thinkers. Always ask, “what have you done?” If they can’t explain, it’s a Red flag. With the right people, motivating and managing goes away. Great vision without great people is irrelevant.

2) Clarify the “What” and the “Why.”

You want a clear common compelling task that’s important to the team. People won’t let go until you clarify where you want them to go. If it’s hard you’re probably doing it right. There’s a vital link between clarity and influence.

3) Organize to the “What.”

The lion share of the organizations time and resources must be dedicated to the “What." Reward what you want and repeat it.

4) Orchestrate and evaluate everything.

Define the critical events, how they are evaluated and define the feedback loop. Constantly ask what we are doing that’s off purpose.
