Shine Like the Sun

God, Faith, thankfulness, honor

This July 4th we have 4 generations of family at the beach.  “Mama B” and “Oompah,” who are 85 and 87, are responsible for building our family that continues to grow each year.  They built our family on a foundation of faith in God and unconditional love.  Much like our great nation, the foundation of our family was built on a solid rock.

“Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on a rock.  The rain came down, the floods came in, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it didn’t fall, for it was founded on the rock.”  Matthew 7:24-25

Any nation, family or team is only as strong as the foundation it is built on.  Which is only as good as the current and next generation.  History has proven that it only takes one generation to tear something great to the ground.  Therefore, we have an obligation to uphold biblical principles and instill those in the next generation.

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”  Proverbs 22:6

I challenge you this July 4th to consider the foundation that you are building and the example that you are setting for the next generation.  I challenge you to invite the Lord to be the head of your household.  Keep your eyes on the Lord so that you will stay grounded on a solid rock.

“Keep your eyes on the Lord!  You will shine like the sun..” Pslam 34:5

May we always remember the foundation that our country was built on, and may we always do our part to ensure our generation and the next will shine like the sun.
