Bite off More than You Can Chew

improvement, learning, inspiration, opportunity

I recently listened to a podcast with Mark Manson who is authoring a new book with actor Will Smith. After spending several months with Will traveling the world working on various projects, he was amazed at how much Will actually gets done in a given day.  When he asked Will how he does it, here are a few takeaways from his answer:

  • The key is to always “bite off more than you can chew,” and then just figure out how to get it done.
  • If you are doing what you love, with the people that you love, what more could you ask for?
  • Everyone is world class at one or two things.  If you aren’t spending all of your time on those things then you are doing the world a disservice.

Biting off more than you can chew is the key to discovering what you are capable of.  Only when our back is against the wall does our mind go to the creative place of discovering what is actually possible.
